The Duffey Law Firm continues a family tradition of providing quality legal representation which dates back to the early
1900s
in Boston, Massachusetts
where Brian K. Duffey’s grandfather John Duffey first practiced law.
The family tradition was continued by Brian’s father, Paul K. Duffey. Paul started
his legal career in the early 1940s in
Quincy, Massachusetts, and later, in the early 1970s, relocated his family and established his legal practice in Boca Raton,
Florida. In the
mid-70s Paul’s integrity and demonstrated respect for the law was honored when the Boca Raton City
Council
appointed
him
Municipal Judge. Claudia Holland Duffey, joined her father in practice, and later, Brian joined
Claudia
in practice continuing a tradition
of three consecutive generations of attorneys.
In 2003, Brian had the opportunity to join the law firm of Hodgson Russ LLP. Hodgson is not only one of the top 100 largest
law
firms in the United States, it is a full-service law firm that dates back to the early 1800s, counting two former U. S.
Presidents
among its partners. Brian advanced quickly at Hodgson, being promoted from
Associate to Senior Counsel to
Partner in just
three years. While at Hodgson, Brian
had the opportunity to work with many well regarded lawyers, including
many with regional
and even national reputations for excellence in their chosen areas of legal practice. Here, Brian had the
opportunity to hone his
legal skills and develop a broad base of experience in the area of estate planning, probate and trust administration, real estate, litigation and matters related to various corporate entities, including
closely held corporations,
partnerships and limited
liability companies.
In 2009, Brian decided that opening his own boutique law firm would allow him to provide the highest level
of
personal legal services, and thus he established The Duffey Law Firm.
Brian concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, real estate, litigation
in the
areas of probate and trust administration and matters involving closely held corporations, partnerships and
limited
liability companies.
Brian is an active member of the Boca Raton community, serving on several civic and charitable Boards throughout his
time
in Boca. The organizations that Brian has served include: The Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton, The George
Snow
Foundation, The Boca
Raton Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club of Boca Raton (Director 2004 to
present
Chair of the Scholarship Committee,
2004 to present), Florida Atlantic University Alumni Association
(Director,
2004
to present, Chair of the Government Relations Committee, 2008 to present), The North Federal
Highway
Redevelopment Board (Advisory Board to the Boca Raton City Council, 2003 to present).
Brian’s participation in professional organizations include: The Greater Boca Raton Estate Planning Council, The East
Coast Estate Planning Council, The South Palm Beach County Bar Association, The Florida Bar Association, the Real
Property Probate and
Trust Law division of the Florida Bar and the Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund, Inc.
(attorney – agent), former Arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau of Palm Beach County, and Pro Bono legal
representation through his affiliation with the Florida Bar.
